TalkLife & GDPR

Our Commitment to You and the Protection of Your Data

TalkLife takes data protection and people’s privacy very seriously and we are committed to continuing to comply with data protection laws.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect on 25 May 2018, provides consistent data protection rules across the EU. It applies to companies based in the EU, as well as to companies around the world who provide or offer goods or services, and who process data from or about people in the EU. While many of the principles of the GDPR built on previous data protection rules in the EU, the GDPR has a wider scope, more prescriptive standards and substantial fines for compliance violations. For example, it requires companies to obtain a higher standard of consent from customers, where relevant, and broadens individuals’ rights with respect to accessing and porting their data.

At TalkLife, we have expanded our tools to help people manage their privacy and understand their choices with respect to their personal data. We have also expanded our data protection team and hired a data protection officer.

We are committed to transparency, control and accountability.

  • Transparency: Our Privacy Policy is the single consolidated place that maps out the ways in which we use data and process people’s personal information. We have sought to ensure our policy is written in easy to understand language enabling our users to be aware of how their data is being used and retained at TalkLife.

  • Control: We provide people with controls over how their user account data is being used, how long we keep data and how to remove their content and accounts.

  • Accountability: We are accountable for our privacy practices, which includes updating our existing compliance program to ensure that we are adequately documenting our GDPR review and compliance.
