The University of New England Launches TalkCampus.

"UNE can see that TalkCampus is providing a revolutionary way to reach students who do not engage with existing services."

The University of New England based in New South Wales, Australia, is the latest institution to show their commitment to the wellbeing of their student community, by partnering with peer-to-peer support platform TalkCampus.

UNE delivers Australia’s most flexible educational experience to over 25,000 students online and on-campus per annum and is driven by its commitment to rural communities. TalkCampus is a platform that offers instant support from the ease of a student's phone, wherever they are, whenever they need it and is available to all students, 24/7 with real-time moderation and escalation, which made the service a great fit for UNE.

"The mental health of students has been a growing concern for many years and the COVID-19 pandemic has created an even more challenging environment. UNE can see that TalkCampus is providing a revolutionary way to reach students who do not engage with existing services. We believe it is critical we do more to reach students outside of the existing framework, TalkCampus is the way to do that." - UNE

The team at UNE recognised that their students would benefit from having a safe space to share with other students, to both give and receive support. Participating in peer to peer support has been linked to: an increased ability to cope, a greater sense of wellbeing & resilience, higher levels of self-esteem and confidence.

“It’s fantastic to see the commitment from institutions to student mental health through providing a diverse support program. We know the positive impact having a safe place to talk about your struggles can have and we are very excited to be able to provide this for UNE students. Talking about your mental health isn’t easy but we’ve designed TalkCampus to make those first steps as familiar, intuitive and accessible as possible.” - Jennifer Russell, Clinical Director at TalkCampus.

One of the aspects of TalkCampus that appealed most to UNE was the open transparent reporting including real-time incident reports and quarterly sentiment and engagement reports. These reports provide valuable insight into how students are coping and key trends, and are valuable to those progressive institutions that are committed to continuously improving the support they offer students.

TalkCampus is a 24/7 global peer support network for students. Supporting over 500,000 students worldwide with real time moderation and escalation. If you would like to explore how TalkCampus can support your students we’d love to hear from you. Book a Demo - https://www.talkcampus.io
